I love you.... we love you
CC and me both grow up in a typical Asian family where love and expression of affection are never shown openly. In fact, in my memory, I cannot recall a time when any of my parents has ever told me. " I love you." But that doesn't mean that I was deprived of love as a child...... just that the love and affection were being displayed in some other manner.
Yup, the same goes for CC as well.
Now with Nutty Gal, both of us seem to be showering and bringing her up with a totally different manner as how we were brought up. Call it the " love and praises " approach, that's exactly our parenting style.
We like the feeling of being opened in expressing our love for her....with daily doses of " I love you".... " Papa and Mama love you" and not forgetting the hugs and kisses.
I guess that's also the reason why Nutty is growing up to be an affectionate gal.......who would ask for hugs and kisses openly. This is also one common parenting style which CC and me agree upon. Lots of hugs....praises, love and kisses.

Kids these days are more fortunate...all our children get lots of hugs, kisses and toys from daddy and mummy...
Most importantly, we have to say the 3 magic words to our SO (significant other) often as well. =) Adults need just as much recognition, especially when they have children. I guess I am lucky because my parents were really affectionate people so I had quite a fair share of the hugs and kisses, making it natural for me to just "carry on the tradition".......
We kiss and said 'I love you' to Damien everyday too...like what sesame said, kids these days are indeed more fortunate...we parents are more open with our affection! :)
Will it get awkward when the kids get older?
By the time puberty comes, they may be a little awkward in expressing their affection with their parents in public. But it is always good to remind one another that they are being loved, build on their self-esteem.
I am amazed at this change too... my parents seldom say I love You to me... but now, I am saying that to my daughter everyday, and kissing her whenevre I carry her... I think she will grow up a much happier & more confident girl. :)
